Dr Alex George

A&E & TV doctor and Youth Mental Health Ambassador

Dr. Alex George is an A&E & TV doctor. He has been working in A&E as an emergency doctor throughout COVID-19 and has become a well known and respected figure amongst healthcare professionals in the UK, bringing the nation accessible and reassuring advice directly from the frontline. Alex is on a mission to make mental health education compulsory in schools, and has become prolific throughout the UK in his campaigning with charities such as YoungMinds, Anna Freud Centre & Mind, with a goal to ensure mental health sits alongside the likes of Maths and English on the curriculum. Alex has now been appointed by the Prime Minsiter as Youth Mental Health Ambassador to the government.

Darren Caveney

Creator of comms2point0 & Owner of Creative Communicators

As the creator of communications industry resource and community, comms2point0, and owner of specialist consultancy Creative Communicators, Darren has over 25 years experience in communications, marketing and PR. He is an award winning former Director/Head of Communications and boasts many years of experience in the public sector.

Laura has worked with a variety of sectors over the last 5 years, helping organisations grow their audience and enhance their customers' digital journey to maximize ROI from digital engagements strategies.

Jack Wickenden-Showell

Senior Digital Communications Officer at Horsham District Council

Jack has over 10 years’ experience in communications and marketing across both the public and private sectors. Since 2015, Jack has led the development and growth of the Council’s digital communications strategy to build positive online communities and communicate vital public services for local people and businesses.

Victoria Nickless

Media & Communications Manager at Reading Borough Council

Victoria has over 16 years of experience in communications in both the public and private sectors. An adventurous world traveller and former teacher, she has parked her passport and swapped the classroom for the office.  Now with 6 years back in the world of local authority communications and juggling work demands alongside raising a lively 4-year-old, her ongoing goals include increasing channel engagement and reaching new audiences – all within the brave new world of home working.

In the fast-paced comms world it's easy to get burnt out, so we'll be addressing the importance of maintaining well-being amongst comms professionals, as well as some top self-care tips to help you reset as we head into the ‘newest normal’.

We'll be looking at the results of this year's Public Sector Approach to Digital Engagement Survey, providing you with insight into the sector's current challenges and priorities to develop your comms strategies for the rest of 2021.
